Bank Charity Shop Driver

Hospice Band 2 £8.92 - £9.18 per hour

‘A future where the best experience of living is available to everyone leading up to and at the end of life’

At Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice we have embarked on an ambitious and innovative programme of service redesign to enable us to reach more individuals and their families, carers and loved ones than ever before.

We believe hospice care can be delivered in any setting. Whether directly by Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, through the health and social care professionals we educate or by organisations we work in partnership with; such as prisons, care homes, hospitals and general practices. To ensure the best hospice care is available for all individuals, families, carers and loved ones across our community, wherever and whenever they need it.

To support our ambitious plans, we are looking for an exceptional individual to join our existing team of Charity Shop Drivers, providing an efficient and reliable collection and delivery service of donated stock and furniture for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice charity shops.

Birmingham St Mary’s retail operation is a community based shopping experience with 16 successful shops in our portfolio. Our shops are of the highest standard and are vibrant, innovative and value for money. We have a commitment to growth and there is no ceiling to our ambition.

Reporting to the Central Operations Manager, the purpose of the Charity Shop Driver is to maximise the shops income by delivering and collecting furniture donations and providing inter-branch stock transfers. Additionally some assembly and dismantling of furniture will be required. You will be providing excellent customer service to donors, customers and shop teams whilst managing & motivating the team of volunteer drivers mate(s). The Bank Charity Shop Driver will provide additional driving support to our two permanent Shop Drivers.

You must be physically fit and able to transport heavy bags and items of furniture and will have previously demonstrated your ability to deliver excellent customer service, drive a large van, and have some knowledge of manual handling. Further training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be passionate, energetic and outgoing, and motivated by our mission and ambition ‘Hospice care for all’.

The post is a bank position to cover holidays and sickness.

This role is based in Birmingham and Sandwell.
