Bank Charity Shop Driver

‘A future where the best experience of living is available to everyone leading up to and at the end of life’

At Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice we have embarked on an ambitious and innovative programme of service redesign to enable us to reach more individuals and their families, carers and loved ones than ever before.

We believe hospice care can be delivered in any setting, whether directly by Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, through the health and social care professionals we educate, or by organisations we work in partnership with; such as prisons, care homes, hospitals and general practices. To ensure the best hospice care is available for all individuals, families, carers and loved ones across our community, wherever and whenever they need it.

To support our ambitious plans, we are looking for an exceptional individual to take on the role of Bank Charity Shop Driver to provide cover for our Retail Charity Shop Drivers during periods of absence or non-availability e.g. holiday, sickness, and training. This may be for either of the retail driver roles; delivering and collecting furniture or delivering stock to our retail shops.

Birmingham St Mary’s retail operation is a community based shopping experience with 16 successful shops in our portfolio. Our shops are of the highest standard and are vibrant, innovative and value for money. We have a commitment to growth and there is no ceiling to our ambition.

Reporting to the Central Operations Manager, the purpose of the Bank Charity Shop Driver is to maximise the shops income by delivering and collecting furniture donations and providing inter-branch stock transfers. You will be providing excellent customer service to both donors, customers and shop teams whilst managing & motivating the volunteer drivers mate(s).

You must be physically fit and able to transport heavy items of furniture and will have previously demonstrated your ability to deliver excellent customer service, hold a clean, full driving licence with experience of driving a large van, and have some knowledge of manual handling. Further training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be passionate, energetic and outgoing, and motivated by our mission and ambition ‘Hospice care for all’.

This role is based in Birmingham and Sandwell.
