The Board of Trustees is responsible for management, governance and administration of our charity.
We are looking for people who have a real passion for increasing access to end of life and palliative care to join our charity as Trustees. Our vision is a future where everyone with a life-limiting illness will live and die with dignity and in comfort and our mission is to enable more people from all communities to access the care of their choice at the end of life.
We want people with a range of expertise and from different backgrounds to join us as Trustees to represent the diverse communities that we work with.
The Charity Commission expects trustees to be able to bring ‘time, understanding and effort’ to their role of governing a hospice, both at meetings and between meetings, as well as useful and relevant experience and/or skills. Anyone over the age of 18 may be a charity trustee, provided they are not disqualified from so doing

Speaking about the benefits of being a Trustee, Dawn Ward CBE DL, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “Being a Trustee of Birmingham Hospice is incredibly rewarding as you support a team of passionate individuals who live our values of kindness, togetherness, positivity, openness, respect and innovation.
“If these values resonate with you, why not apply? Help us to deliver our vision for Birmingham, where everyone with a life-limiting illness will live and die with dignity and in comfort.
“Together we will enable more people from all communities to access the care of their choice at the end of their life.”
The hospice is committed to developing a dynamic and diverse workforce, representative of the communities it serves. We ask you, therefore, to complete the Equal Opportunities monitoring form to help us in this aim.
We value each person as an individual – whether they are colleagues, patients, family members, carers or supporters, every person matters. We embrace diversity of culture, background and environment knowing it enriches our workplace and our relationships with our local communities. We are committed to building a culture of inclusion and belonging. We would love to hear from you, about what makes you uniquely you and how this opportunity will support you to succeed.
Our values are at the heart of everything we do as we continue in our mission to enable more people from all communities to access the care of their choice at the end of life.
