"A memory is a keepsake of time that lives forever in the heart"

Our special Light up a Life event is a time for people to come together and remember loved ones who are sadly no longer with us.

Held over the festive season, this year’s celebrations will take place on Thursday 15th December at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.

As with previous years there will be two ceremonies, one at 4.30pm and another at 7.30pm. You and your family and friends are invited to come along to enjoy Christmas carols and musical performances before the lighting of the Hospice Christmas tree and a silent fireworks display. You can also write the name of your loved one on a star, which is placed around the Christmas tree, as well as having the opportunity to view the Hospice Book of Remembrance.

Each year Light up a Life raises vital funds for the Hospice to help us care for local families who are living with terminal illness. We care for 1,200 individuals each year and provide help and support to their families, friends, carers and loved ones, leading up to and at the end of an individual’s life.

If you would like to support Light up a Life this year, you can make a donation by clicking the Donate button. Please note that unfortunately we are unable to take dedications from online donations but you will still receive a thank you card from us, for you to write the names of your loved ones in.

However, if you would like to make a dedication with your donation, instead of donating online, please call the Hospice on 0121 472 1191 and we will ensure that your loved one's name is placed in the Book of Remembrance. Please make your dedication before Tuesday 13th December to ensure we can include your dedication in time for the event.

Please do come along to one of our ceremonies and join others in celebrating the lives of our loved ones. Light up a Life is free to attend and we would advise you to wrap up warm and prepare for all weather conditions.
